Why does sabertooth look different in x men origins

Multiple versions of major characters like Magneto, Professor X , Mystique, Cyclops, and Jean Grey would come and go, simply in the service of what Deadpool would refer to as "confusing timelines. One jarring example is Sabretooth, a. Victor Creed, who appeared twice in the X-Men series but was portrayed by a different actor each time.

First, Tyler Mane donned the claws in 's X-Men , and later, Liev Schreiber took up the role for 's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, both of which supposedly exist in the same timeline. Looking at the two side by side and comparing their on-screen personalities, it's as if they are completely different characters. As it turns out, Mane's recasting wasn't without cause — in fact, it happened for a very good reason, as he revealed to THR in March of This height makes Mane a closer match to the Sabretooth in the comics, but for most of X-Men Origins: Wolverine , when there's meant to be a closer, human relationship, that wouldn't quite fit.

That said, since Jackman is nearly a foot taller than Wolverine is in the comics, Mane actually needed to wear lifts to make their height difference more pronounced, so it could have been made to work. Despite not being asked back, Mane speaks fondly of playing Sabretooth in X-Men ; he refers to both the character and the film as his favorites in the franchise.

Mane admits that that was disappointing, but he also doesn't have to put the worst X-Men movie on his resume, so that evens out. While Mane wouldn't have really worked for what that movie wanted to do with Sabretooth, he shouldn't feel too bad about it. Fox has never particularly cared about the continuity between their X-Men films, which notoriously have some pretty glaring inconsistencies.

Origins alone contributed to a lot of those, and any movie that needs to get wiped away thanks to a timeline reset X-Men: Days of Future Past is not something to be proud of. Mane may not have gotten to do much as Sabretooth, but he still contributed to a fight scene that, while somewhat dated, it still pretty solid.
