Can you use silicone for decoden

However this brand states it's not tacky in 15 minutes but takes days to cure. After a few hours it's still very flexible but not tacky. So my question is for those who use silicone. Do you buy a certain type? How long does your take to cure? Silicone is basically a sealant. So it's usually that white stuff you see around the edge of your bath against the wall that stops the water getting down the back of the tub.

The easiest way to explain it for decoden is that it's a waterproof rubber type of material. So it starts as a sticky paste and "cures" or drys into a hard rubber like substance!

Not a professional but I've heard you can use paper clay to replace whip cream from Maqaroon's tutorial on YouTube! Thank you! I have seen that option but I wanted to use silicone as I like the detail it keeps when you pipe it.

Paper clay is great for that fluffy texture though. I personally use the alex brand of0 silicone but i heard you could also use painter's caulk. But some times i make my own if i am super lazy to buy at the store. Since it's my first time using it though I'm a bit unsure. I'll have a look into the painters caulk! Make sure to use an artist grade paint heavy body, heavy pigment because the more water you introduce into your silicone, the more likely it will seize up and become unusable.

You can find silicone at any hardware store. It will be in the caulking section, and typically comes in either a large tube for use with a caulking gun, or in smaller squeeze tubes. Kind of. Deco den doesn't usually have specific guide lines, but there is certain things that you're going to need to get started. Silicone caulking: Alex DAP Plus is good, but make sure you get it in brilliant white, because that's what you want for whip cream. NOTE: You'll need a caulking gun or something to get the silicone out.

Next up, you're going to need piping bags and piping tips, if you get the squeezable silicone, you'll only need your icing tips. NOTE: Couplers are definitely recommended for easy switching of piping tips! Next thing you're going to need is some sort of thing to decorate your pieces with. Anything from trinkets to gems to cabochons to your polymer clay creations, anything could be used! Also things like puffy paint, micro marbles and glitter can be used. You can also buy colored glue sticks for a cute melting chocolate effect.

I'll list some other things that can be used later. Deco denning is very simple, all you do is fill up your piping bag and pipe away on your piece. Next up is where to buy your supplies! I'll list a few good places.
